A Retrospective: Celebrating the Unsung Heroes of Southern Soul Music

Sunday, April 9 @ 6:00PMSun, Apr 9 @ 6:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

The second in a series of four evenings of discussion and performance focusing on musicians from the 1960's and their moments of impact on American culture.

FILLET DE SOUL: Celebrating Unsung Heroes of Southern Soul Music. Hosted by Jerry Zolten with very special guest Billy Price.

By the 1960s, the music called "soul" was a powerful current in American and world pop music. These days, the words "soul music" mostly bring to mind the catchy tunes, fancy coordinated outfits, and meticulously choreographed stage moves that are the legacy of Detroit and Motown - which is alright - but not nearly as well-known are the deep-down delineators, the artists who, rooted in black gospel, laid the foundation with pulsing heartbeat rhythms and voices with the ability to wring every drop of emotion out of the words. O.V. Wright. Otis Clay. Dyke and the Blazers. James Carr. Bobby Bland. Who better than soul master Billy Price to turn the lovelight on these artists in an evening of conversation, exploration, and revelation profusely illustrated with performance clips and a live song or two.

Youth in a Roman Field with Hallie Spoor

Youth in a Roman Field with Hallie Spoor

Friday, April 14 @ 9:00PMFri, Apr 14 @ 9:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

Youth in a Roman Field is the surrealist folk project of musician, writer, teacher, and activist Claire Wellin. The band’s progressive sound (described as a combination of ‘Appalachia, cayenne pepper, and ghosts' and ‘like Radiohead but also folk music’) is reflected both in their inventive recordings and endearing live performances. Their unique ability to transform their training in traditional folk, jazz, and classical music has seen the band successfully grow a fan base from the ground up, forging deep bonds over the past ten years. Weaving string loops with soaring violin melodies and dynamic vocals,

Claire’s solo show is part singer-songwriter, part one-woman-chamber orchestra, offering an intimate translation of the unique songs on the band’s records, including their most recent album, ‘Get Caught Trying,' which was released November 2022 via Better Company Records and explores self-worth, power, loss of faith, care, and collective healing.

Doors at 8:15pm. Show starts at 9pm. Click GET TICKETS below to reserve your table. 21+ only.

A Retrospective: All You Need is the Beatles

Sunday, April 23 @ 6:00PMSun, Apr 23 @ 6:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

The last in a series of four evenings focusing on musicians from the 1960’s and their moments of impact on American culture: ALL YOU NEED IS THE BEATLES: A Deep Dive into Everything Fab Four. Hosted by Jerry Zolten with guest Ken Womack.

The Beatles have been a force to reckon with since they broke worldwide in the early 1960s. Of all the British invaders, like no other they took American rock 'n' roll in new directions and to breathtaking heights. Technology has always been on their side, whether it be back in the day turning the recording studio itself into a musical instrument or nowadays the streaming that keeps their entire creative output alive and accessible.

Ken Womack is one of the world's leading authorities on all things Beatles, his string of illuminating books including Long and Winding Roads; John Lennon 1980; Solid-State: The Story of Abbey Road and the End of The Beatles; and Maximum Volume: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin. Womack's forthcoming book is Living the Beatles’ Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans. Join Ken and fellow Beatles author/fan Jerry Zolten in a not so mysterious tour inside the legacy of The Beatles.

Eliot Lewis | Live from Daryl's House

Wednesday, May 3 @ 7:00PMWed, May 3 @ 7:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

ELIOT LEWIS has a career most musicians could only dream about. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Eliot Lewis has toured all over the world as a member of the Daryl Hall & John Oates band,as well as a key member of The Average White Band. Eliot has also been the only musician to appear on Daryl Hall’s incredibly popular, "Live From Daryl's House” show all while keeping his own solo career going at a seemingly impossible pace. Over the course of his career he has worked with the music business’ elite including, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Joe Walsh, Todd Rundgren, Train, Cheap Trick, Grace Potter, Ben Folds, Jewel, Rob Thomas,Keb, Mo,Jason Mraz, Darius Rucker, Gavin DeGraw and many others. "Eliot is a musician who can do it all, great singer, songwriter and guitarist. He rocks and he's got soul. No one does it quite like him" - Daryl Hall

Having mastered four instruments over the course of his career, guitar, keyboard, bass and drums, Eliot’s shows will find him moving from one instrument to another, even playing several at once. If Eliot plays a cover song, it’s typically a song he’s performed with that artist. Eliot is currently set to release his 8th solo album for 2022 as well as constructing a multi instrument live looping show.

Equally at home in front of 100 or 15,000, Eliot has performed on the worlds most legendary stages, including Madison Square Garden, Japan’s Budokan, Red Rocks, The Hollywood Bowl as well as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,Conan O’Brien,The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel and many others. “Songs come from the inside out and are usually written about my own experiences and observations. My goal is to convey these little slices of life.”
