Join Pine Grove Hall for a special film screening of “Blair County: A People’s History.”
Nestled in the heart of the majestic Allegheny Mountains, Blair County stands at a crossroads of history. Defined by geography, fueled by industry, forged by war, and remade through innovation, the region’s tale is a microcosm of the evolving national experience. The saga of indigenous peoples, settlers, soldiers, industrialists, and everyday citizens who shaped local society is one of trial, tragedy, and triumph. This engaging film traces the cultural influences of Central Pennsylvania’s rich heritage. Interviews, reenactments, rare photos, and archival footage breathe life into the dramatic stories of the past.
This 90-minute documentary brings viewers on a centuries-long journey across Blair County.
The sold out grand premiere at Altoona’s Historic Mishler Theatre received a standing ovation and rave reviews. Now, due to popular demand, there are several screenings scheduled throughout Central Pennsylvania. At Pine Grove Hall, attendees will not only enjoy this epic film, but partake in a light dinner, beverages, and a Q&A panel with the filmmakers themselves! The DVD and other film merchandise will be for sale afterwards. Furthermore, the public is encouraged to explore educational booths for the Blair County Historical Society, the Centre County Historical Society, and the Centre County Genealogical Society.
Proceeds from the evening will support the Blair County Historical Society and its educational mission to preserve and interpret history.
