House of Hamill

House of Hamill

Thursday, March 30 @ 8:00PMThu, Mar 30 @ 8:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan met 10 years ago, each involved in separate projects. Brian's band was enter The Haggis and Rose's group was Burning Bridget Cleary. After crossing paths several times, they created House of Hamill in 2014, the name a tribute to the first tune Rose ever taught Brian.

Brian and Rose are both accomplished traditional fiddle players and classical violinists. Together, they write unusual new fiddle tunes and exciting, unpredictable original songs while also breathing new life into traditional and contemporary songs. Both are confident and unique lead vocalists, and the blend of their two voices in harmony is hypnotic and irresistible.

Allentown, PA-based House of Hamill is a fixture on festival stages across the U.S., and have shared their music and stories on the country’s premier folk stages. Their version of “Pound a Week Rise” rose to #1 on the U.S. Folk DJ charts, and the video for their all-violin cover of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” amassed over 16 million views on Facebook, where it was shared over 400,000 times. Their latest release, “Folk Hero,” captures perfectly the frenetic energy and eclecticism of their always engaging live show. A lively collection of original instrumentals, reimagined folk ballads, and new songs that showcase the trio’s versatility, “Folk Hero” is the third House of Hamill album to be funded entirely by their fans.

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

The Guitar Brothers--JON ROUNDS, BRUCE TRUITT, JERRY BRESEE--are a trio of seasoned musicians and songwriters who found each other in State College in 2021 after many years playing music in far-flung places. Jam sessions evolved into rehearsals, and a sound emerged featuring original music with a studied interplay between acoustic guitar and electric bass. They played to a sellout crowd at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at this year's Arts Festival.

Show will be held in our listening room upstairs which is not handicapped accessible.

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

SIXTY YEARS AFTER: A Retrospective…

The second in a series of four evenings focusing on musicians from the 1960’s and their moments of impact on American culture.

The Revolution was Televised on Saturdays: The Remarkable Moment That Was the Johnny Cash Show, 1969-1971. Hosted by Larry Boggess with Guest Doug Irwin

This retrospective focuses on the controversial and diverse musicians who appeared on the 58 episodes of The Johnny Cash Show. Among Johnny’s guests were Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Joni Mitchell, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Gordon Lightfoot, and Peete Seeger along with soul, pop, traditional country, and bluegrass acts. Cash was the soul center of an orbit of the best singer-songwriters of the day. His groundbreaking show brought social relevance and new interpretations to country music, making it mainstream while blurring genres. Host Larry Boggess and special guest Doug Irwin sing songs from the show’s artists and comment on their importance to the singer-songwriter genre today and the role of song in American life.

April 9th - FILLET DE SOUL: Celebrating Unsung Heroes of Southern Soul Music hosted by Jerry Zolten and special guest Billy Price.

April 23rd - ALL YOU NEED IS THE BEATLES: A Deep Dive into Everything Fab Four hosted by Jerry Zolten and special guest Ken Womack.

March Writers' Round Hosted by Anna Pearl Belinda

March Writers' Round Hosted by Anna Pearl Belinda

Sunday, March 12 @ 6:00PMSun, Mar 12 @ 6:00PM

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

ANNA PEARL BELINDA is a local State College singer-songwriter, performing since she was 11 at events throughout PA such as the Arts Festival, Grange Fair and Happy Valley's Got Talent at The State Theatre. Predominantly playing the piano, you will often find melancholy tones throughout her songwriting. Additionally, she plays guitar and ukulele. Her inspirations draw from artists such as the Dave Matthews Band, Regina Spektor and Coldplay.

NICOLE GARGIULO has performed and created with various ensembles and bands, ranging from avant-garde to folk to amplified feminist domestic craft. Though she does utilize instrumentation in her songwriting, she prefers to bask solely in the voice as embodied instrument. She approaches song from a spiritual space, conjuring melodies and words in meditative states to invoke unfiltered expression and primal delight.

SKYLER SCHOLL is a DJ, turned drummer, turned songwriter, possibly known for being in a band who spent the last five years playing in State College, called The Roof. If he could bridge the sonic gap between Neil Young, Mac Miller, Tyler Childers, and Tom Petty, with conviction, he could die a happy man. Songs of redemption are his main topic of interest.

DANIEL COLLINS is an award winning musician who grew up in State College, and can be seen performing with local acts around town such as Lowjack, Caledonia, and Raven and the Wren. He primarily plays fiddle and guitar and is influenced by classical, Irish, and rock and roll music.
