Sax/Flute player Chris Byrne and keyboardist Chip Lovett have been playing together since the late 80’s, making their Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts debut in 1988. They collaborate to write songs and often play as a duo or trio in small venues. The quartet is their most common configuration, and bassist Gary Abdullah and drummer DJ Vactor create a rock solid funk-based foundation to the music, allowing Byrne & Lovett to engage in their signature trading on high energy originals as well as classics by Herbie Hancock, George Duke and others.
Ever expanding as artists, they’ve added a few vocals and arrangements of material from unexpected sources. Byrne, Lovett, Vactor and Abdullah are all part of the larger group Urban Fusion, which draws on a whole community of collaborating local artists, such as Andrew Jackson, Duane Bullock, and other horn players, guitarists, and vocalists. Our Casual Fare menu and full bar service available all evening.
