This August 12th Pine Grove Hall will host a dance party paying tribute to the days of Western Swing, featuring The Rough Riders of Western Swing, with singer Kristi Jean and guitarist Steven Branstetter (Kristi Jean and her Ne’er-Do-Wells), harmonica player Nate Cutshall (Quickdraw Cutshall and the Sureshots), bassist Justin Dorsey (Haystack Lightning), drummer John Raiser (Gill Street Band) and guitarist Andy Tolins (Triple A Blues Band).

Western swing music is an amalgamation of old-school barn dance music, Dixieland, big-band swing, and improvisational jazz music, all underlying catchy melodies and a high-energy backbeat tailor made for dancing. Brought to life by pioneers such as The Light Crust Doughboys, Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies, Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys, and Spade Cooley, Western swing was among the most popular music of the 1930’s and 40’s. Western swing has been championed and kept alive artists such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys and Asleep at the Wheel.

This event will be held UPSTAIRS where we'll push back the tables to allow for plenty of room for dancing. Doors at 6:45pm. Show starts at 8pm. Choose and earlier time-slot to come for dinner.
