David Fox

Pine Grove Hall, 101 E. Pine Grove Rd., Pine Grove Mills

Singer/Songwriter and founding member of BACKSEAT VAN GOGH, one of the region's most popular '80's bands, DAVID FOX is celebrated for his unique brand of introspective, storytelling songs. His lyrics are personal and authentic, revealing human emotions as well as social and political issues.

Prior to Backseat van Gogh, David’s musical journey included stints with the ‘60s Penn State rock band “We the Living” and novelty group “The Wooley Thumpers”, as well as various ‘70s twosomes including collaborations with Jerry Zolten, Ken Mathieu, and Jamie Rounds. His songwriting spans the genres of singer/songwriter, folk, folk rock, ballads, classic rock, power pop, and novelty, and his influences include Del Shannon, Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Jackson Browne, and Mark Knopfler.

Early on, David was signed to a recording, publishing, and management contract with The Robert Stigwood Organization, whose acts included Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Eric Clapton and the Bee Gees. As a solo performer, he opened concerts for David Bromberg and Brewer and Shipley, and during the run of the hit Broadway show “Beatlemania”, David was one of those selected to play the part of George. In 2000, David’s songwriting was internationally recognized when he was awarded Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

In recent years, David has written, recorded, and produced two solos albums, “Scratches and Dust”, and “Driving by the Light of the Moon”, the latter including his song “Paterson” about his New Jersey hometown which radio and TV personality “Uncle Floyd” Vivino called “a masterpiece”. David is currently recording his third solo album, a collection of thirteen songs that he feels are his best work to date. He’ll be debuting many of those songs at his Pine Grove Hall performance on July 14th.

Local veteran musicians JERRY ZOLTEN and RICHARD SLEIGH will open the show.

This performance is part of Pine Grove Hall's Arts Fest Music Showcase week.
