Homage to the Soul Jazz Pioneers --

Rick Hirsch began developing this project nearly two years ago for following the pandemic lockdown. In late July, 2021 they performed to live and livestreamed audiences on the main stage of the State Theatre.

Their sets will feature some of the most-loved music from the Soul Jazz songbook (think: classic Blue Note era). The music is melodic, groovy, and intended to simply feel good. Composers represented include Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons, Yusef Lateef, Kenny Garrett, Wayne Shorter, and several more.

RICK HIRSCH the musical director of Zeropoint, the saxophonist in Erin Condo & the Hoofties, and an internationally-performed jazz composer. He’s a forward-looking improviser with strong roots in the traditions of jazz.
